Widerstand und Täterschaft in Gera 1933-1945 – Stadtspaziergang

Auch wenn Gera heute in der rechtsextremen Szene eine zentrale Stellung einnimmt, war es historisch eher eine „rote“ Stadt – wie sich nicht zuletzt bei der Niederschlagung des Kapp-Putsches 1920 zeigte. Doch bereits zehn Jahre später war Thüringen das erste Land, was von der NSDAP regiert wurde. Als Verkehrsknotenpunkt nahm Gera auch in der Logistik des Holocausts eine nicht unbedeutende Rolle ein. Doch auch in der NS-Zeit war der antifaschistische Widerstand der gerschen Bevölkerung nicht vollständig gebrochen.
Diese Geschichte versteckt sich auch heute immer noch in Orten der Stadt, weshalb wir mit euch die Gleichzeitigkeit von Widerstand und Täterschaft in diesem Stadtspaziergang beleuchten wollen.

Resistance and Perpetrators in Gera, 1933–1945

Even though Gera today occupies a central position in the far-right scene, historically it was more of a “red” city—as was evident not least during the suppression of the Kapp Putsch in 1920. Yet just ten years later, Thuringia became the first state to be governed by the NSDAP. As a transportation hub, Gera also played a significant role in the logistics of the Holocaust. Yet even during the Nazi era, the anti-fascist resistance of Gera’s population was not completely crushed.
This history is still hidden in various places throughout the city today, which is why we want to explore the coexistence of resistance and complicity with you on this walking tour.
